Hanami at Ueno Park

Ueno Park (上 野 公园, Ueno Koen?) Is a public park located in the Ueno area, district of Taito-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Its official name is The Emperor's Ueno Park (上 野 恩赐 公园, Ueno Koen onshi?). Park area of approximately 530 thousand square meters is managed Public Works Department in Tokyo.

In the southern area of the park are named Swimming Pool Shinobazu. In summer, most of the pond is filled with beautiful green leaves and pink lotus flower. In winter, migrant birds use the pond Shinobazu as temporary shelter until the coming of spring. In spring, Ueno Park popular as a place to view cherry blossoms. When the cherry blossoms are blooming, blossoming, this park is crowded with people coming in groups to do hanami.

Ueno Park originated from a named Kan'ei-ji temple was built in the Edo period by the third Tokugawa shogun, Iemitsu. The temple was built to seal the evil forces from the northeast winds are believed to be unlucky. During Boshin War, Kan'ei-ji temple was burned after use as a bulwark of support group of soldiers called Shōgitai Shogunate.

In 1870, Dutch physician named Anthony Bauduin come to check the location of the former Kan'ei-ji. According to the plan, at this location will be set up medical schools and hospitals. He also advised the government to maintain the Ueno area as a park.

In the year 1837, location to Ueno Park is based on the command Dajōkan (interior minister). Ueno Park was completed and opened to the public in 1876. Development Ueno Zoo and the Tokyo National Museum started in 1882. In 1890, the land became park property and is under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Household section.

In 1924, The Imperial Household menghibahkan park to the Tokyo city government, so the park was officially given the name The Emperor's Ueno Park (Ueno Koen onshi). Keisei Main Line was built in the new railway station between the station and Station Keisei Ueno Nippori. The station, completed in 1933 and was named Station Hakubutsukan-Doubutsuen. In 1997, Station Hakubutsukan-Doubutsuen ceased operations in 2004 before being deleted.

In the year 1973, the statue of Anthony Bauduin was established to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment Ueno Park. But the statue's face is made of a portrait face wrong brother Anthony Bauduin. The statue is complete with the correct face was rebuilt in 2006.
